Franco-Brazilian photographer Claudia Masciave considers herself a determined and spontaneous explorer. Curious and creative, she conducts relentless research in an effort to understand life, reality, existence, and the world around us, synthesizing her conception of the world into images — the absolute.
Raised away from her parents in the Amazon rainforest until the age of 15, she later moved to Manaus to continue her studies. During her final year of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, she took a break to travel without a set destination, seeking to find her true identity. After several years of wandering, it was in France that she finally found her place.
Her integration process, not without its obstacles, allowed her to gain perspective on her past and to form new expectations for her future.
Her work has opened doors to new connections in France and now gives her visibility in artistic, political, economic, and social circles.
Insatiable and subversive, Claudia is an artist who, through the language of photography, transforms herself to embody the existential questions that have haunted us since Genesis.
