Claudia Masciave is a visual artist, visual poet, photographer, and filmmaker. An Indigenous descendant living in the French Alps, she is deeply rooted in her Franco-Amazonian heritage.
Claudia sees herself as a determined and spontaneous explorer. Curious and creative, she is constantly searching to understand life, reality, existence, and the world around us, distilling her vision of the world into images. The absolute.
Raised away from her parents in the Amazon rainforest until the age of fifteen, she moved to Manaus to continue her education. During her final year of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, she put her studies on hold to set off on an open-ended journey in search of her true identity. After several years of wandering, she eventually found her place in France.
The challenges of integrating into a new country allowed her to gain perspective on her own story and to envision new possibilities for her future.
Her work has opened the door to meaningful connections in France and has earned her growing recognition within artistic, political, economic, and social circles.
Insatiable and subversive, Claudia is an artist who, through the language of photography, transforms herself to embody the existential questions that have haunted humanity since Genesis.
