artist/ Denis Morel

France

Denis Morel uses photography as a language, a means of translating a transformed perception of reality. He captures the illusion, takes hold of it, shapes it, aestheticizes it. His work elevates the everyday, sublimating the banal through immersion in the unreal.
He questions space by reducing it to two dimensions. But what remains of its truth? Does his representation become reality?
The artist is guided by intuition. Images emerge, impose themselves and flow through him. By integrating the subject into space, the photograph becomes detached from time: it becomes an object, almost unreal.
He looks for the happy accident, the spontaneous gesture. He pursues harmony – of form, of color – driven by an instinctive quest. He waits for that suspended moment when light, contrast and material respond to each other. That’s when magic is born.
