Mònica Castanys, born in Barcelona in 1973, is a Spanish painter. She graduated from Barcelona’s Llotja School in Pictorial Procedures in 1993 and furthered her training in Florence. Since 2004, she has devoted herself exclusively to painting. Exhibiting in Spain, Europe and at numerous international art fairs since 1998, her work belongs to the field of contemporary figurative painting. Inspired by everyday scenes, she focuses particularly on the female figure and the beauty of ordinary moments in urban life. Her paintings are characterized by a luminous palette, strong contrasts and an impressionistic sensibility. She primarily works with oil on wood and is represented, among others, by Le Cube Vernet gallery in Avignon.
