Golnaz Afraz is a contemporary painter born in Iran in 1980. After earning a degree in painting from Azad University in Tehran, she went on to obtain two master’s degrees in fine arts, from Tarbiat Modares University in Tehran and the University of Strasbourg. Her international journey informs a body of work exploring migration, memory, and identity. Blending her Iranian cultural roots with Western modernity, her paintings feature a cinematic visual language, with layered scenes that invite introspective readings. Working primarily with oil and acrylic, Afraz has exhibited across Europe and Asia since 2005. Winner of the Saatchi Art Showdown in 2015, she is currently exhibiting at Le Cube Vernet gallery in Avignon.
