artist/ Pons Emmanuel
France
Born in 1968, Emmanuel Pons lives and works in Normandy. He was awarded the Silver Medal of the City of Paris for his body of work. In both painting and writing, Emmanuel Pons begins with the subject. Sometimes barely visible in the work, merely hinted at in the narrative, the subject remains its source. This is why the artist-author founded ideal abstraction. “Scattered, harsh, and taut, dazzling and sacrificial, these subtle signs of art, in a stunning act of letting go, disrupt the expanse. They are small, separate, feverish islands—uninhabitable and detached from reality, allusive and healing—all born of inner surges. These harsh traces, cast as jagged, preverbal charges in which the chaotic memories of the essential jostle one another, bleed raw.
