Sess Essoh is an Ivorian visual artist, born in 1988 in Dabou.
A graduate of the Mural Arts Workshop at the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts of Abidjan in 2012, he lives and works between Abidjan, Bingerville, and Dabou.
Fascinated by his father’s habit of recording his daily life in a journal, he developed an interest in literature, history, and the traditions of his community. However, his immersion in the urban world of Abidjan exposed him to a turbulent and unjust reality that shook his previous beliefs and certainties. Drawing from these experiences, a more rebellious path opened up to him—one shaped by the use of poetry and writing as tools for questioning and critically analyzing society, bearing witness to the erosion of optimism and the falsification of history.
