enTowards the essential!
Since the nineties, modeling clay and sculpting have seemed to me an inner necessity and the heritage of a Mediterranean sensuality passed on by my roots.
Then, when I had the extreme pleasure of being able to cast my sculptures in bronze, my bodily forms were purified and condensed.
It was at this moment of formal simplification that my abstract painting appeared, and these architectures that allow me to reinforce sensitive expression and go beyond the figurative subject into the interiority of the painting and of oneself.
In recent years, the simplification of forms has gone hand in hand with an enrichment of textures and an exaltation of materials and colors; I’m moving more and more towards monochromes or almost monochromes, towards the essential, thanks to subtle blacks, golden ochres, matierist whites and crimson reds; at the same time, the use of the icy freshness of colored resins is renewing my sculptures.
