On Thursday evenings from 6pm, the Night of Art gives artists the chance to take over the fair for an evening, with meetings and live performances.

Patrick Moya is known for having created, more than thirty years ago, the iconic Dolly Party—a staple of the queer electro scene—and for the live paintings he created during those famous parties; a type of happening he continues to this day across an infinite variety of media, throughout Europe and Asia. In 2023, Dior commissioned him to create a capsule collection for its Baby Dior line. As a visual artist, performer, and digital artist, Patrick Moya cultivates the utopia of being universal, erecting large steel sculptures in Asia or shaping ceramics from clay in Italy featuring the letters of his name, moving from paintbrushes to the computer, from electro parties to the walls of a chapel, from contemporary art to digital art, from real life to virtual worlds. As a pioneer of the metaverse, he has reconstructed his universe in 3D within the pixel-based world of Second Life: through his avatar, the creator has finally become a creature that lives within his own work.

Performance by Artists Christelle Garrigue and Pierre Bergé

At the entrance to the Salon, Christelle Garrigue and Pierre Bergé, known as Pédro, will bring “Women’s Freedom” into resonance. In front of and together with the audience, they will create, in unison, the new Grenoble Dress—a living memory of the hand. Christelle Garrigue, a fragrance sculptor, has been working with tea bags for several years. A haute couture designer, she creates dresses under the guidance of Alain Marchais, former head of workshop at Yves Saint Laurent. Her dresses have one fundamental purpose: to bring together life and people’s stories through shared tea bags. It is a beautiful principle of recycling, intended to preserve moments of happiness. Pierre Bergé, known as Pédro, is a painter and poet who has been painting for many decades. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, he has felt drawn to this country, wishing, in his own way, to bring back a smile and a moment of respite. For five years now, travelling there three times a year, he has devoted himself to painting. His colours are carried high and boldly by women, children and people who have been mutilated. Through World Vision and the United Nations, he will see his drawings and poems placed in sealed cases, as testimony against war crimes. Through the work of these two artists, whose practices focus on humanity and women, we propose that they create the Grenoble Dress. “When Grenoble Gloved the World” — in the history of the city, we learned that Grenoble’s glove-making industry once brought the city international renown. Our performance will therefore be to create the Grenoble Dress together with the audience. For this purpose, Christelle has prepared a skirt measuring 4.50 m by 1.05 m, made entirely from tea bags. (The artist herself no longer knows exactly how many tea bags were used, as the skirt is so large!) The skirt will be mounted on a panel so that Pierre Bergé can express himself through painting directly onto it. Members of the audience will then be invited to place their hands directly on the skirt, leaving behind a physical memory of their presence. This staging will showcase Christelle’s work on one side, with her writings on the tea bags, and Pierre’s painting on the skirt, created together with the audience. An artistic osmosis will emerge between the two artists and the public, gradually revealing, at the end of the evening, the new Grenoble Dress.

Artist Maurizio Galloro will unveil his latest paintings in an exclusive presentation

On Thursday evening, as part of Grenoble Art Up!’s Art Night, we will have the pleasure of welcoming artist Maurizio Galloro, who will unveil his latest paintings in an exclusive presentation. Through his compositions, the city, light, and color interact in a subtle balance. Architecture, perspectives, and vegetation blend together, gently guiding the viewer’s gaze from reality toward the imagination.
Art for everyone, starting at a young age.
This evening will also be dedicated to young artists and budding collectors, with activities specially designed for them: a fun and creative way to discover the artworks, awaken their sense of observation, stimulate their imagination, and spark their first artistic emotions. Because curiosity and an appreciation for art are cultivated from childhood, we are delighted to offer our youngest visitors their own moment of discovery at the heart of this Art Night. An evening of discovery, creativity, encounters, and emotions—come experience it at the Galerie Villa Domus booth—B15.
