Yoshitomo Nara is a contemporary Japanese artist, born in 1959 in Hirosaki. He is famous for his paintings, drawings, and sculptures depicting children and animals with often melancholic or rebellious expressions. His unique style, influenced by pop culture, manga, and punk art, has captivated a wide international audience. Nara studied at the Tokyo University of the Arts and continued his studies in Germany. His works have been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums worldwide, and he is regarded as one of the leading figures in contemporary Japanese art.
