Eric Robin was born in 1958, in Romans sur lsère in Drôme. He lives and works in Salon de Provence. He was introduced to painting at the age of nine by his uncle, a painter.
From this artistic environment, his first creations and exhibitions were born. From 1998, he developed an abstract work inhabited by transparency and vibration. This work is obtained by the technique of oxidizing copper leaf (leaf gilding), which he perfected over the years.
In 2015, in addition to abstract works, i1 turned towards other research and expressions, which allowed him to create new works in three dimensions: crumpled paper. Each large-format painting represents tens of meters of paper, carefully prepared and gilded, oxidized, painted, cut, folded.
Then with precise gestures he crumples the glue into layers, thus creating a composition in relief, full of subtlety, whose play of shadows accentuates the contrasts and the fine nuances of transparency.
