FRANCE

Hervé Ringer rejects the overly stated, the saturated; caught between excess and insufficiency, Ringer avoids the surface of things, painting only their intimate drifts. He works, he tags, he traces.”
– Christian Noorbergen, Artension, September-October 2006.
“From this pictorial effervescence arises a feeling caught between delicacy and violence.”
– Gérard Gamand, AZART, May-June 2012.
“From his paintings emerges an ocean of sometimes violent colors, flat areas of vivid tones that lend the universe he presents an oddly timeless beauty.”
– Miroir de l’Art, July-August 2012.
Since entering the art world, his original works have found their way onto the walls of discerning collectors. Among them is Inès de la FRESSANGE, who has named him her favorite painter. He has also captivated dozens of enthusiasts, won over at first glance by the spontaneity and playfulness of his world.
This spontaneity, though still very present in Hervé RINGER’s work, is now complemented by more deeply crafted material effects, on canvases larger than in the past. This evolution has been made possible by his recent move into a “real studio” on the outskirts of Paris, replacing the tiny space he once occupied in La Goutte d’Or.
Hervé RINGER approaches the canvas without complacency, welcoming accidents, smudges, and the unpredictable movement of materials as they come. This is how he achieves raw emotion, which he manages to convey in all its intensity. The artist also knows how to play with the strong emotions that surface on the canvas, often parodying his own work by incorporating classical figures or evoking cartoon characters.
