Dominique Pouchain, ceramist, sculptor.
The gesture is simple. It’s that of the potters of old. From an ancestral tradition even older than that of the Dieulefit region where he was born in 1956. It’s an archaic gesture. It wasn’t he who seduced the earth, but the earth that gradually conquered him… The wheel, stamping, engobe, alquifoux: he has used all the tools and materials at his disposal. Dominique Pouchain began his apprenticeship in 1973 in his parents’ workshop
workshop of her parents, Jacques and Rolande Pouchain. His father was a ceramist and painter, his mother a decorator. He registered as a craftsman with the Chambre des Métiers in 1977, producing utilitarian pottery.
