FRANCE

Coming from a family of artists, the vivid and expressive paintings of Julie Rovira known
as Pitu capture the creative look she has had since childhood. Born in Martigues in
1994, Pitu began painting at an early age, attracted by the freedom she found in artistic
expression. His self-taught style draws inspiration from abstract art to neoexpressionism
to create a unique approach, placing his work as a notable part of the
outsider art movement. Working with bright colors, dynamic patterns and expressive
characters, Pitu creates a universe where his bold and curious personality is free to
explore.
Often asking questions at the beginning of a new work about the nature of life and our
world, Pitu uses the visual medium of painting as both a psychological and intellectual
exercise. A prolific painter with considerable body of work, Pitu’s blend of raw painting
and philosophical inspiration earned him growing popularity.
Taking an experimental approach to his artistic process, Pitu is not beholden to a single
medium, instead mixing a variety of mediums, such as acrylic, oil pastel, spray paint
and India ink. His exploratory approach uses an intuitive and spontaneous method.
Pitu often lets the first splashes of color and notes of patterns guide where she takes
a work, always favoring free and natural expression. Pitu lives and works from his
home in Collioure in the Pyrénées Orientales in France.
