artist/ Kraffe
France
Lalou Kraffe was born on 09 May 1973 in Troyes, the historic city of hosiery and the Compagnons du devoir, into a family of antiques dealers and workers in the fabric, sewing and dyeing industries.
In 1994, she graduated top of her class at the Ecole Boulle, then joined Duperré on the advice of one of her teachers.
As a painter, she exhibited her raw, highly spontaneous works on hosiery cardboard for the first time in Troyes in 1995. These were works in which she wanted to free herself from the technical rigour she had acquired.
In 2003, she met her future husband and moved to Brittany.
In 2007, the studio was established in the heart of the town of Auray. That same year, after an Art Singulier exhibition, Lalou voluntarily and definitively distanced herself from this artistic family, which was not her own.
She took up her notebooks again and rediscovered her inner nature and her precise, meticulous work.
Numerous exhibitions in galleries and shows where she presented her paintings marked the years that followed.
Her pictorial research focuses on a period of history that stretches from the Nabis to the Viennese Secession, for their quest for beauty and Total Art.
She looks at and paints women, and women. Recently, in 2020, she also took up modelling…
