GraffMatt is fascinated by the freedom of expression born in the streets through graffiti, art, music and dance.

GraffMatt, whose real name is Matthieu Lainé, is a French artist born in Savoie. He now lives and works in Chambéry. As his artist name GraffMatt suggests, he draws his inspiration from the world of graffiti and street art. Citing hip-hop as a source of inspiration, among other elements of the urban scene, GraffMatt is fascinated by the freedom of expression born in the streets through graffiti, art, music and dance. Using a varied combination of acrylic, spray and felt-tip paint on canvas, Graffmatt creates classic portraits and urban landscapes. His works are detailed, disruptive paintings composed of the artist’s strong mastery of pattern and color. GraffMatt’s emerging talent was discovered a decade ago when he began exhibiting his work throughout France in group and solo shows. Since then, he has also taken part in exhibitions in Belgium and Switzerland.
