In her paintings, Els Knockaert seeks to capture the essence of childhood – a theme that resonates deeply with her from her years spent in the mountains of Colombia. Living among children who play freely, in a world still untouched by modern distractions, has been an inexhaustible source of inspiration for her. This spirit of innocence and pure joy shines through in each of her paintings.

She works mainly with mixed media, creating backgrounds rich in texture and colour. The use of the palette knife is essential to her process, giving tangible structure to her paintings.

Each painting tells a story that is vibrantly human – shared laughter, knowing whispers, or a look of wonder at the Living. Her artistic approach is a celebration of colour, texture and life. Her work aims to create a bond between artist, subject and viewer, awakening personal memories while paying homage to the universal and the beauty of Life.

Els has been living in France for many years now. The painting courses she organises attract people from all over France, Switzerland, Belgium and Luxembourg. Her work can be found in many private collections in France and Latin America.
