A famous couple of contemporary artists, Christo (1935–2020) and Jeanne-Claude (1935–2009) are known for their ephemeral works and the monumental scale of their installations. Recognized as co-authors of each of their projects, they divided the work: Jeanne-Claude, the couple’s spokesperson, handled administrative tasks and coordinated project execution, while Christo developed the artwork through models and drawings. The sale of these preparatory works allowed them to finance their large-scale installations.
