Conference-debate on the foundations and evolution of the language of art
Meeting with Christophe MOTTET, visual artist and author
Saturday 6 April at 11am
The year 2023 saw my visual language undergo a radical change through the use of printing on dibond as a medium. By losing its aura, I free the work from the yoke of its religiosity, allow it to leave the space in which it is located and give it the possibility of being one or many. For me, it's a way of exposing it in all its nakedness. In this talk, I'd like to go back over the major stages that led me to this break with the past and discuss with you the foundations of my writing.
Contemporary Art at the Musée de Grenoble
Meeting with Loredana Gritti, art history guide and lecturer
Saturday 6 April at 5.30pm
If there's one museum in France that deserves a mention when it comes to contemporary art, it's Grenoble! First and foremost because of its primacy - it was here, in the 1920s, that the first works by living artists proposing a new formal language were exhibited - and then because of its breadth: all the major trends in contemporary art, from lyrical abstraction to new realism, pop art, minimal art and Arte Povera are represented. Another special feature of the museum's collection is that it includes masterpieces rarely represented on French soil, such as Sol Le Witt, Robert Ryman, Johan Mitchell, Giuseppe Penone, Andy Wharol, Geneviève Asse, Sigmar Polke, Wolfang Laib, Bruce Nauman and Pierre Soulages. Last but not least, the museum boasts a wealth of graphic art and photographs, most recently enhanced by an exceptional donation from Antoine de Galbert.
