Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Bruly Bouabr\u00e9 was an Ivorian illustrator and poet, born on March 11, 1923, in Z\u00e9pr\u00e9g\u00fch\u00e9, and passed away on January 28, 2014, in Abidjan.
\nHe is also the inventor of the B\u00e9t\u00e9 script, a specifically African writing system designed to preserve the culture of the B\u00e9t\u00e9 people from being forgotten. The syllabary consists of 448 characters, each representing a syllable, inspired by geometric forms.<\/p>\n

Following a \u201cdivine revelation\u201d he received in 1948, he devoted himself to creating an entirely African writing system for Africa. This vision would directly influence his work.
