Suzanne Porter is a Franco-British photojournalist and visual artist, recognized for her impactful humanitarian photography. After completing a degree in Social Studies, she set out to explore whether academic theories held true in the real world. Her travels were abruptly interrupted by a boating accident that severely damaged her spine, with doctors fearing she would never walk again. During her long recovery, she picked up a camera for the first time and enrolled in a photography course, marking the beginning of her artistic journey.<\/p>\n
Seeking relief from chronic pain, Suzanne moved to Africa, armed with a Canon EOS 5 and a large supply of film. One of her first significant sales was to actress Kate Winslet, who bought two of her photos taken on a beach in South Africa.<\/p>\n
Suzanne\u2019s first major exhibition, featuring images from a tobacco farm in Zimbabwe during the white farmers’ land invasions, was hosted at the Zimbabwean High Commission in London. Recognized as a “shooting star” by the British Journal of Photography, she secured her first paid assignment in 2000, working with CARE International in Lesotho.<\/p>\n
Since then, Suzanne has traveled extensively, documenting communities in need and using her photography to highlight critical social issues. She has collaborated with renowned humanitarian organizations such as Sightsavers, WaterAid, and M\u00e9decins Sans Fronti\u00e8res, and her work has been published in prestigious outlets like The Guardian and Cond\u00e9 Nast Traveller.<\/p>\n
Her six-year project documenting the nomadic Tuareg people culminated in the exhibition Secrets of the Sahara, which was showcased at the British Museum. During five years living in Marrakech, Suzanne\u2019s Moroccan portraits, depicting the intimate lives of the locals, were selected by the interior designer Jacques Garcia to decorate the walls of the renowned La Mamounia hotel following its renovation. She was later chosen as an artist-in-residence at Tower Suites in London.<\/p>\n
In 2019, Suzanne founded CLIK Trip, an innovative platform that connects local photographers around the world with travelers seeking unique photographic experiences. This project reflects her deep commitment to socially responsible tourism and her passion for sharing hidden, authentic corners of the world with others.<\/p>\n
In 2023, Suzanne opened CLIK Gallery in Grenoble, a dynamic space dedicated to the exploration of photography as an art form.
